I really don't see the point in signing contracts with these bonuses when teams seemingly are never going to pay them. We released Atogwe because we didn't want to pay the $8 million bonus and Green Bay have done the same with AJ Hawk

It makes them try harder when playing stuffing incentives in contracts.

Or you could just not bother putting bonus's in in the first place like us

We asked Nick Kaczur to take a pay-cut and he refused so in a few day's he wont have a job, now that's stupid from a guy with limited skills, I can't see another team paying him $3.4 million to be a back-up either

They shouldn't need bonuses in their contracts.

Presumably because they should be giving their all on every play, in every training session without needing a multi-million dollar signing bonus to incentivise them?

He was entering the last year of his rookie contract which paid him an extremely high salary ($10 million GUARANTEED nothing to do with bonuses) this year. Considering he was drafted 5th overall he has been on very good money for the last 5 years. The deal works well for everybody assuming he finally signs. He gets a new multi-year contract and we get a high final year salary off the books with space for other players.

He was never going anywhere, he has been a rock in the middle for us (but nowhere near worth his contract value) since Barnett went down. If any MLB is going to leave it will be Barnett. Bishop and Hawk will be tied up.

Bonuses in general though are ridiculous. Teams either cut the player before they reach them and then resign them or they are stupid bonuses anyway. Eg. I'm pretty sure Glenn Dorsey of the Chiefs has a clause in his contract that he gets an astronomical figure if he wins 2 SB MVP's. NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN!
