Peet : Fri Apr 14, 2023 10:22 pm
After the Catalans game I criticised his game plan.

I think it’s only fair to compliment it tonight.

Outstanding.

We old manned Wire attacking their middles who have been regarded as this strength. Isa kept Vaughn and Kasiano honest all night just running a drop off, off Shorrocks. It was brilliantly simple but so effective.

The loss of Singleton so early could really have caused us some major issues but his clarity of thought and use of subs was fantastic.

At one time we had 2 specialist 9’s on the field…but neither of them were actually playing 9.

Madge came to SL and changed the way the game is played. Now most clubs still use the same patterns of play that he did. The more successful ones simply do the same move better and pick when to use it.

Peet is breaking that mould he is running new patterns. It’s very refreshing.

I liked the variations in the end of sets in Wire's 20. Seems to me we've struggled for a while to score when camped on a good team's line in recent years, but the number of different kicks (and not just Smith) made us more unpredictable. We opened them up on two or three occasions in the first half but couldn't finish them off. On another day that puts us about 18 points in front.

Agree 100%, 3 Derby games and 3 different game plans, executed to the tee.

Its credit to Wire that they hung in there, I think they will be a threat down the line but our intensity was superb and "gassed" the three mentioned and some others too.

Tactically superb the past few games and credit to the players for believing in the plans and sticking to it.

As a fan first and foremost I want commitment and desire from the players and at the moment we are getting that by the shed load. Peet and his team have done a first class job in the past 3 weeks. I would have been very content with 2 wins so to get 3 with 3 excellent performances has been fantastic.

Think that's the minimum that they demand themselves. Peet regularly comments about the commitment to each other and working for your mate.

Very much back to the wane way of playing with players prepared to run through brick walls for one another.

Yeah good to see the players being so committed.
I think when the fans see it in terms of the intensity that in turn makes the crowd more vocal.
Hopefully we don't get too many more injuries but I'm quite sure that the young guns when they have to play wont let anyone down.

You can see that the players are loving it,Peet has created something special and it wouldnt surprise me if we win the lot this year.
If we dont win anything it will still be one hell of a ride,as a club from the players, fans and staff we all seem so energized and it feels great to be part of the Wigan way.

Watched the wire game back last night, you do miss odd bits and bobs being there but the one thing is clear the players are totally bought into the Peet way of doing things,3 games that all could have been lost won more than convincingly it’s good to see.
