Meanwhile we’re stuck with KPP who’s a one trick pony and a few other underperforming forwards
Not sure it’s that simple. I think Partington is benefitting from playing in his rightful position, having maybe a bit more freedom and just perception. He was lauded after the Leigh opener a few weeks back and I thought he played well. You look at it statistically and he made 70 metres from 17 carries, at just over 4 metres a carry. I look at that and 2 things come to mind, 1-he wouldn’t get enough time on the field here to carry the ball 17 times and 2-if he did and made 4 metres a carry, he wouldn’t be praised for his performance.
Shorrocks is a bit different. He’s not had anywhere near the chances in Wigans first team that Partington had. His appearances may look ok but his minutes have been extremely limited. He’s also been played loose forward, prop, hooker, centre and wherever else. Maybe like Partington, he’s now being played in what should be his position (somebody said he’s playing in the second row) but unlike Partington, we can call on him whenever we like. It’s not like our second rowers are pulling up trees as you say, so a chance could well be around the corner.
