Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. There's no doubt that Orford would be a good signing his kicking game and organizational skills would improve us greatly, however he'll be 32 at the start of next season and we'd probably only get 2 years out of him and we'll be back in the same position of looking for a scrumhalf again.
Personally hope Orford does resign with Manly forcing Lenegan's to go for Myler, forming a partnership with Tomkins that can last 10 or 12 yrs, surely that's the kind of planing ahead that this club should be doing, not just another quick fix.
The 2 most succesful team over recent years, Leeds and Saints have both had the same half-backs for a few seasons. A partnership is more important than individuals. McGuire is not the best player but he works well with the team.
I would love Orford as he could have an impact on our next 2 seasons and maybe we could win something with someone as good as him runnning our team around the park, but could Myler not have an impact as well.

Would totally agree that settled halfback partnerships bear the most fruit, and this why in my previous most I thought it best to sign Myler rather than Orford due to the amount of time the respective players have left in there career. As for Myler having an impact within the team Im not sure that he would perhaps have the immediate effect on the team that Orford would due to his age and lack of experience, just think were better getting two young lads together and making sure they gel rather than signing what is a very good player however only for a short time.

He is a decent 7 but he is clearly a world class 9, not many players would play so well in a world cup final. With Riddell hitting a little bit of form now, the prospect of him and Leuluai interchanging with McIlorum out on loan gaining experience sounds good. Maybe we can have our connection with the austrailian club set up within the next season, McIlorum would be perfect to send over there.
Steady on! He's an average at best 7, doesn't create bugger all, so he's not even decent!
A World Class 9? Yes he had a good 3 games there for NZ in the WC, but I think a LOT more game time is needed before you call him world class.

Potential world class. From what we have seen he has been world class, you are right he is not an established world class 9 though.
As a 7 he can create on occasions but does not do it consistantly.
I truly think Trent carried him in the halves. Wigan often look clueless in attack, show no signs of creation. Who do you look towards to create? You're number 7. Ours at times is terrible.
No organisation skills, doesn't seem to know how to open up a defense to put a player through the cap, how many times has Gleeson or Carmont been put through a gap? I feel so sorry for them, at Wigan you make you're own work taking up the ball yourself cos our 7 can't put you through even a half gap.
A 9 does far more tackling than a 7, so I'd like to see how he's holding up after 20 or so game playing as a 9 week in week out before making any judgement calls on Tommy as a 9.
