Practically said he's off back to Aus in a recent interview. However, if he did sign, you can understand why both King and Wire would keep it quiet till the end of the season.
Regardles, whether it be King or someone else, if Carmont is to go, we need at once new centre signing. Joel, despite being a great player is showing how difficult it is to become a great centre.

I'm unsure about Joel as a centre, he seems to be settling into the role, but whether he could be successful in the long term i'm not sure. But replacing Carrmont will be the big issue, how do you replace a player of his quality, a real class act?
I spoke about Matt King with my mate who's a rugby league journalist at the end of the game tonight and he said he thinks he'll go back to Australia. I said that I wouldn't be hugely shocked if he wasn't loyal to Wire though and went to another superleague side though as he got a really rough time from the Wire fans in his first 12 months at the club and those memories may stick in his mind. When I mentioned that he said it jogged his memory of an interview he did with him not that long back when he said he wasn't overly complimentary of the Wire fans and said he seemed to hold back from praising them.
We'll see I suppose and being honest I think he will go back to Australia but theres nothing wrong with admitting he'd be a really good signing for us. We've always had this banter with the Wire fans that he's not as good as Carmont and in value for money terms he's not been but he's a cracking player and there wouldn't be many better replacements for Carmont then him.
Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS

Hang about. On this basis, he certainly wouldn't want to come to Wigan. Wire fans weren't the only ones slagging him off.
I'm not in favor of signing King for a whole host of reasons. First of all being I'm still not convinced he's ever proved to be that good in SL. Also whilst he may come cheaper now, than when he originally came to these shore's, he's still going to demand a large salary. Plus he's soon to be 31. Not a good signing in my eye's.
I'd much rather see if Hull FC were willing to part with Tom Briscoe for a large cash sum. That would be money far better spent. They probably wouldn't let him go. But it's only going to a matter of time IMO, before another club, such as Wire put the feelers out for him, perhaps unsettle him some what and force FC's hand in the matter. The lads not from Hull, and as long as they continue to under achieve, he'll be a potential signing for any club who pursue his signature enough. We paid a large sum for Gleeson, paying one for Briscoe considering his age in comparison's to Gleeson's would provide tremendous value for money.

He'd expect better of his own clubs supporters though surely. He'd get dogs abuse off opposition fans regardless of form but he seemed to take the abuse off the Wire fans pretty bad with it reaching it's low point when he gave them the fingers iirc at Quins.
A rocky start if ever there was one. I know we've had plenty of players who've had rocky starts but it's never reached a low like that.

Briscoe has hardly played centre for Hull and may be a much better winger than centre. I know a couple of Hull fans who say he has never been impressive when he has played centre. It is hardly like we need anymore wingers either if he didnt come good at centre, Richards is far better and Charnley is looking as good as Briscoe in that position.
