Never like seeing former great players meet ignominious fates like this, but it was totally ridiculous to have appointed him in the first place. A guy with next to no experience of coaching. I wondered at the time if in reality it was simply about him being cheap - that was surely the only explanation. But maybe reality has finally bitten. For example, I wouldn't expect that interim coaching team to last for long - I can't believe Saints have got rid without having someone else already lined up.

I'd venture to suggest the first test would be whether he could get up in the morning in time to attend training.

I read things like this about Longy and I think people don't know the real him or appreciate the lengths the guy will go to for his club and his career........
