Well according to the Moles Monday scoops Carney and Burgess on Wigan's radar . Extract below

"Wigan are on the hunt for a new winger to replace rugby-bound Josh Charnley – and they have cash to spend.

It has led to suggestions they may make a play to lure their former star Joe Burgess home at the end of this season.

The England international has struggled to break into the Roosters side. Brisbane’s Greg Eden is also off-contract while Aussie Justin Carney’s loan spell at Salford ends this year"

I'd take Eden as a Sarginson replacement to add utility value to the squad but certainly not as a replacement for Charnley.

Joe Burgess would be my first choice without a doubt.

If Hampshire went to Cas he wouldn't be there very long as either Saints or Leeds would be offering mega money to sign him.
Then we have a Sean Long Mk11 on our hands for the next ten years.

I think its probably worth it.

Hampshire no doubt the best in his age group back when he was 16/17 but we see it all too often with players who arent able to make that step up to Super League. Time to cut our losses with him.

All teams have a half back who takes control, ours is Matty Smith and another who has more off the cuff style, ours is George Williams. Smith is still under contract for another 3 years, and unless he goes to the NRL George will be here for another 12 years. Sam Tomkins will be our fullback for another 6-8 years as well. I see now way of Hampshire getting in the team. Best for all parties concerned if he moves on and theres no better way to do it than to use him to get us one of the best wingers in Super League!

how long dose carney have left on his cas contract after this year ???
would he not be a free agent

Probably!

I'm going on the basis that the Aussies have improved him but maybe I'm too optimistic (or deluded) going of his past.

If not Eden I do believe we need some utility cover. We're light in the backs with those two in the squad so it's a must IMO.

Seriously, Eden hasn't had enough games under his belt to really be 'improved' yet, I'd say. Whether Bennett will give him that many remains to be seen.
