Re: Rumours and signings v8 : Fri Aug 31, 2012 4:47 pm
It's alright for the club to pay money for a replacement for Finch. I'm sure Green will be a very good signing but it means nothing if we won't have a strong enough pack and as it stands that will be the case.

We still need a real top class forward who is a consistently high metre maker and I'd hope that Lenegan is willing to use a bit of cash to get the right sort of player otherwise any halfback signing would have a much harder job fitting in.

I'd love for us to be able to sign Eorl Crabtree. He's carried the Huddersfield pack all season, is a great hard working forward and is deceptively quick and mobile for someone of his size. His biggest negative has always been his lack of aggression, he's nowhere near as fearsome as he could be if he had a bit of nastiness in his game, but I reckon Wane could really get the best out of a player like him. It's probably wishful thinking though.

He's getting on but I'd go for him.

Guys like Lynch Kylie Luluai have shown that age can be just a number and props can still knock up decent yards.

We could do with a bit more of a enforcer tho.

Conroy - Being a Latics fan i'm already immune to watching sh*te.

Sally Cinnamon - Treat the Saints forum as you would if you met a girl from St Helens. Best policy would be to avoid altogether but if you absolutely can't resist temptation then take every possible precaution.

100k for Blake green, guess that's the price you have to pay for a hb in contact.

In the region of, could mean anything from 60K to 110K. Lenagan isn't daft. We'll have to wait until next August when the 2012 accounts are published to find out how much we paid.

Agreed. We desperately need a prop imo.

Apparently - according to Sam - we will be getting an Aussie prop.
The person who was told knows next to nothing about NRL so didn't recognise the name to correctly pass on, then I don't have a single clue on the NRL so I couldn't even guess.
We will see.
Hope it's true.

Next year we are looking considerably weaker. Only one experienced starting centre, our two main props are both good but injury prone, green and smith are a massive step down from leuluai and finch, mcilorum looking to carry the season on again as the only good hooker - what will we do if he gets injured? Tomkins is not good enough IMO.

When you said Tomkins is not good enough I thought you meant Sam for a minute! I agree with you though. We have lost a lot of quality in the last 2 years. Hopefully we will sign a few good uns to compensate. Prop is my biggest worry.

There is a forward from the NRL definitely signing for Wigan if he hasn't already. You may be looking at another soon too because Wane is considering trying to offload one of your current forwards.
