Getting a deja vu to last year right at the moment.
Lots of clubs announcing major signings whilst Wigan fans waited and waited with no news. As it turned out we didn't get the players we wanted.
This isn't really a knock at Lenagan, he did deliver with the Gleeson signing - I just hope he can deliver the goods for 2010.
This is around the time when you expect signings to be announced - this myth that Wigan wait till the end of the year isn't really true, it simply means that usually Wigan have missed out on the top off-contract players and are bringing in the dregs from the bottom of the barrell.
Oh and Bailey should leave without question. Great guy, great attitude but simply not worth his place.
Well he went to Australia half way through the 2008 season stating it was mainly a trip looking at top end signings for 2010 so we'll see if it beared fruit!
He always talked about 2010 being the season we'd be back on an even keel again in regards to the saalry cap and it being the season we could start signing top quality again so lets see if that happens.
He does a good job for the team and he's an experienced head but you just feel we need to get the likes of Mossop a chance in the first team.
Baileys cap space to go on a prop forward imo.
No thanks. We have too much talent coming through in that position who have immense potential.
One thing I will say I'm glad the calibre of players we are looking at has gone up a bit. Carl Webb, Mark O'Meley, Willie Mason, Matt Orford compared to Ryan McGolderick, Darrell Griffin, Richard Moore etc

Looking and buying are two different things. I am quite partial to walking down past the shops in Bond street and looking at the lovely watches on display in many of the shop windows. Sadly, I am unable to purchase the watches.
Let us hope Wigan are not getting themselves into this situation.

I agree with that, Im starting to wonder how long how long it will be before we hear that 2011 is a year we will start to see positive squad movements in relation to the cap.
Bailey will almost certainly be leaving imo given the cap & quota limits we will face in the next couple of years, that and the depth of talent we have in the second row.
If Bailey stays, Mossop/Farrell will start to look elsewhere because Hansen will always get picked in front of them despite offering nothing all season.
I would hope when IL returns from Aus, he announces a signing, im sick of hearing about how he "would play Mason as a prop" or he "is looking for a frontline halfback and Orford fits that bracket"

Exactly.
Like I've said before Lenagan will be made to look pretty stupid if after continually mentioning all these top names in the press he doesn't actually close the deal on any of them.

I think that why Bailey has to leave imo because we can't afford to be letting these lads go.
I'd let Pryce, Smith and Bailey leave without question and possibly Coley aswell dependant on who we can get in to replace him.
I'd bring Goulding back from Salford to act as back up in place of Pryce.
I'd also look at loaning one of O'Carroll/Prescott out for the season if we bring in another prop and keep Coley because we can't afford to let them sit in the reserves.
