Serious question...
If we dont blood some young prospects in games like this...when do we??
We promote lads in the U18's who excel up to the U20's to push them further. Then those lads that stand out go on duel-registration to Championship sides to push them further, where they're then promoted to the first team squad and have to earn a place in the side like everyone else.
Another poster mentioned Sam Tomkins scored five tries in his debut and then was dropped the following week. That must be horrible for a young player who would be thinking: what do I have to do to get into the side?
I'm taking a different outlook on this game. Our attacking combinations have been a bit slow this season and we haven't been firing on all cylinders. This is to be expected with chopping and changing the team every week as well as trying to incorporate a new halfback in Brett Finch. These last few weeks we've seen a steady improvement, but this challenge cup tie will give us the opportunity to consolidate our attacking structures and gives Brett Finch the opportunity to gain some confidence & for our players to gain a better understanding of each other.
