And Wane, who called on the winger to improve his performances, says it will be "hard work" for him to dislodge youngster Dom Manfredi from his starting line-up.
"I'm very happy with Dom," continued Wane.
"Josh will get his chance, but he needs to grip it when he does and I'm not sure when that will be.
"The Josh of the past has scored some great tries and done some unbelievable things, and I remember that, but he needs to come in and do the tough stuff as well.
"There were deficiencies in Josh's game before he got injured so I need to make sure those problems have gone before he gets his chance with us."

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

Most idiotic post ever goes to Grimmy..... The way to restart should be an arm wrestle between a designated player from each side.
I'm wondering if there's something going on behind the scenes there. Manfredi was at least partially at fault for two tries on Thursday. Plus Leeds very nearly scored a winner on his wing at magic weekend

A rollicking in private will be accepted by most players, but a public humiliation can prove to be a step to far.
I think Wane is just trying to ensure we get a fully firing Charnley as soon as possible when he's back rather then him feeling his way back in.
Manfredi has done a good job and has plenty of improvement in him but Wane will want Charnley back in ASAP IMO. I think he's trying to guard against complacency from Charnley when he is back in.
I was called a conspiracy theorist last time I wondered why the rumours about Charnley wanting to leave his Wigan contract early appeared to end when he was dropped from the first team - and I accepted it because, yes, he has been injured, and yes, other posters know more about what's happening in the inner workings at Wigan than I do.
But this seems like a very odd story. I like Dom Manfredi but he hasn't been so good that a fit Josh Charnley wouldn't displace him. And if Josh isn't fit, how can he play for Workington?
Manfredi is a young talent with few games under his belt. Don't go getting worked up about a few mistakes. He will not be the finished article for a while. I imagine that union would take him or Burgess like a shot. Both are the type of player that they like.
likely to be a couple of games at most for Workington to blow the cobwebs away and get a bit of match fitness before he is back on the wing hopefully with a fit centre inside him

Zak Hardaker will disown him.
