If there was a way of getting him but still having space to move for a forward, I’d be extremely interested. Sadly, I just think there’s massive loyalty shown to Sam Powell and they won’t bring him in to play second fiddle (which he would be, however wrong that is).
It’s a potential opportunity to start being a bit more ruthless. Sam Powell gives it everything and has been a good servant but I wouldn’t be renewing his deal the next time it’s up.
Powell isn't getting dropped, not a chance. Which saddens me. Its OK being a great bloke to have around, a tackling machine and a leader, but you need some talent thrown in.
Carney mentioned a potential move to the NRL. It would make sense looking at the wording of the article about him. It states he wants to take up an opportunity elsewhere. That would be strange wording and a strange decision if it’s to move to Wakey or Cas and I don’t think anyone else needs him (other than us).

Signing a new hooker in favour of Powell seems unlikely during his testimonial year. However he's out of contract at the end of the season (I think?), I do think going we do need to bring in a player or two within the pack to complement the backs. Did Brad Dwyer only sign a year's deal this season as well?

I think he signed a 2 year deal toward the end of last year.
He is however 29, but definitely could give three good years. Leeming at 27 could give more, seen Leeds comments and most prefer Dwyer as the better player.
