Bateman is an excellent signing. A great player with the potential to become a top class forward. Could very well go on to be a club captain.

It will be one hell of a task to keep them all happy, but if a player like Bateman comes on the market it would be irresponsible of Wigan not to come in for him.

I would say this move will see Pettybourne used mainly at a Prop. Bateman will cover Lockers.

It puts massive pressure on Hughes who was suffered from second season syndrome.

To answer the original question though, no I do not think we have too many forwards. I think we will see players rotated throughout the season, which could mean we do not have that drop off that we had this year because of the quality of all the forwards we have.

I think this adds weight to the rumours that Hansen will finish his career in 2014 and pick up a pay cheque with Salford after that.

Good comment about Hughes though. He's fallen behind this year but I'm really hoping he can rediscover some form as he's a truly great prospect! He's had a hard ride at Wigan with what's been asked for him and the positions he's been asked to play.

Hughes is a backrower and nothing else imo and he needs to be played there. He's a cracking prospect as well and a signing like Bateman should drive him on to be at his best.

Lads like Bateman, Hughes, Burke etc are all potential internationals and to have so many in that bracket can only be a good thing. They will all feed off each other and push each other on.

Good signing but I would have preferred us to have put our hands in our pockets for a hooker or winger/centre.

Did not see that one coming and assumed (like most) he would be headed to the current Grand Final Chumps

Excellent signing and will provide excellent competition across the entire back line. I do thing he has been brought in to be the successor to Lockers though.

Burke is another excellent back rower, but possibly lacks the finesse that Lockers offers. Bateman will give us that.

Hope he sorts is hair out mind you

A decision needs to be made with logan tomkins in my opinion i really like mcshane and he could go on to be a terry newton class, his face just doesn't fit at Leeds
