Didn't see the England Italy match, but am aware of Josh Mantellato . One of the standout perfromances I saw last year was his one and only NRL match, against the Rabbits. He was outstanding on the Wing scoring a try and 3 goals, all of whch were from the sidelines and although he had a strange kicking action, he nailed them all. Well worth a punt as a replacement for Pat.
Only on a 1 year extension for the Knights, but I'd start talking to his people before his price starts rising.

Rugby Union Bad Boy Suggestion of the Week: Lions scrum half Mike Phillips has just been fired by his French club for turning up drunk. Would cost a fair bit and will almost certainly get a gig in Union as he is still a key Welsh squad man but is big mates-partners in crime-with Andy Powell and would make a very good RL centre IMO

Absolutely, Scrum half in Union and Hooking in league are similar. Would be great publicity for league if any side picked him up, he wouldn't count on the salary cap so would be worth a risk. I'm not sure he would fit into the culture at Wigan though.

If Powell can then most players could.

The last thing we need is another project signing, we already have Powell and Gelling. To an extent Thornley/Hughes are still works in progress with regards to the centre spot. Not to mention the project of who Pat Richards replacement will be. Also Eddy Pettybourne hasnt played all year so we are taking a risk there with him. Clubb and Sarginson havent exactly been setting the world on fire there so we are signing them in the hope that they will be better players at Wigan. We need to look at signing some experience, someone who will come in train hard and do a good job on the pitch as I fear another project in the team would be one too many.
