Just because we don't know who the two marquee players are doesn't mean we don't have them. The only people that need to know are the RFL and Salary Cap auditors.

This isnt strictly true ... however there are different interpretations of the regulations. The Regulations State;
"The identity of any Marquee Player shall not be kept confidential."
Now different clubs have interpreted this differently (Saints for example interpret as satisfying this regulation by literally using the word "marquee" in signing announcements, but I dont know every club follows that). But it does involve the media knowing. The last marquee signed by any club was Sezer at Huddersfield - and helpfully the below was put together:
Quite a few have dropped out since then (Merrin, Burgess, SBW). Unless someone has signed a marquee contract since Burgess required (I fully admit not to be able to say who has signed contracts since that happened, let alone who might be likely to be earning above the threshold for marquees), we can be fairly confident that Wigan currently have 1 marquee.

AFAIK our marquees where Burgess and Bateman. Burgess has gone so that leaves 1 free

Maybe the media do know who it is then. Just because we on this forum don't know doesn't mean we don't have them.

Surely (and don’t call me Shirley) It would make sense that the two top earners are classed as marquee for all clubs so that only £150k of their salary counts towards the cap??

It does, but Wigan haven't told everyone on RLFANS who they are so we either don't have 2 or we're cheating again.

Not every club will have players who earn £150k + and even if they did, not every club will spend up to the cap so wouldn't actually benefit from the rule.
