114 for Faz. Seemed to be a tactic to get him over Croft after listening to Harry Smith after the game

It’s been effective for years but we still need some variety. It was turgid for a lot of last night in attack.

Haven't you read this thread? We're already getting a good return out if him. Without him breaking any pots he's posting 100+ metres every game, been solid in defence and scored the winning try on Friday. It's 6 games in and playing in a team not yet firing. What exactly were you expecting?

More than happy to keep him on his form so far. He’s putting in one hell of a shift for the team and looks happy to be at the club.

The problem for our centres is that the ball never goes past the second rowers. Very rarely do they get any quality ball in good position.

Part of that is that Farrell has been a constant for 10years + in the side
he runs some excellent lines and has worked with Green, Williams, Tommy, Smith etc, and they all seem to be able to hit him and put him into gaps. He is also very difficult to put down, just note how often he is tackled and is stood and ready to play the ball

Wardle has been at the club for a couple of months and played 6 games, so it will take time, not only to understand how he runs best, but for others to get used to him as well.

Once we've sussed the best way, and you have both of them running at pace, then surely it will be a nightmare to defend against as they wont know which player is getting the ball.

It’s been up and down but I like Wardle. He’s a ‘moments’ player, whereas King is an absolute grafter. They’re polar opposites really but I like the pair of them. I do think King has been the more valuable of the two so far and you can tell he’s on edge and wants a full time deal. I agree that Wardle needs to up his workrate but he’s settling in and he will get better. He’s an upgrade on Bibby or Isa at the very least.

What happened to King? At Wire he could jump and contest a high ball....has Peet given him lead boots?

I was expecting the same, with him and Wardle and KPP added in to be more of a threat from high kicks

Re: Wardle : Mon Mar 27, 2023 2:46 pm
I got shot down for this on the wire board, but I think King would make a very good second rower. He played there a couple of times for us and I thought he looked good. He is FAR too slow to be a top quality centre and he gets exposed a bit defensively. However, he makes good yards running the ball in hard and straight, plus he can get an offload away. His speed would also be perfectly acceptable for someone playing in the back row.
