Personally I don't see it as wasted talent at centre. You have to play as many of your best players as possible. Wheeler at centre is only a waste if you think the centre spot does not have any prestige. I think that's a bit short sighted given the quality we have had at centre.

Last year we lacked enough creativity on attacking the line. With Wheeler on one centre Shenton in the other, it gives us good creative players out wide and in the middle.

If we expect to do well just having 2 creative players in the middle and runners everywhere else then I think we will continue to fall at the last hurdle.

I don't see the problem with Meli and Shenton at centre with Wheeler at stand off. Wheeler's waste of talent comes when he can show no more than Either of them at centre but could make a huge difference in the middle.

Wheeler has the potential to be one the best centre's in SL if he stays fit. Very impressed with him against Salford.

I was saying all last year that, talent wise, he's the best centre at Saints (and probably the best 6), just can't get him on the pitch.

No doubt Rogues will hark back to a meaningless reserve game to point out why him and Lomax are rubbish as they lost to Wigan.

I do. Your idea involves Meli. That is automatically a problem.

Saints fans dislike for Meli is like some wiganers dislike for Goulding theyre both threatening solid players theyre good players.


Imagine having Mathers in your team thats something to complain about.

A lot of Saints fans don't like Meli yet as a Wigan fan I always see him as one of their biggest threats. The problem with him though is inconsistency.

He's great one week and terrible the next. There seems to be no inbetween with him.

If Wheeler can stay fit this kid is a class act and will be an international within two years.

I have had arguments with other Saints fan where his best position is and personally I think stand off but others say centre.

I'd say looking purely at his physical shape, that he's a stand-off. Certainly if you look at Wheeler's build in comparison with our own Josh Charnley, then there's a marked difference. Then again physical body shape has not always been a determining factor in deciding what position a players is most suited too. Thinking about it, forget all I've wrote, it's BS.
