Smith and Williams would compliment each other really well as a half back pairing in terms of playing styles

Give him Hastings money. Williams looks comfortable on the right and so Smith can play on the left we’re he’s more suited with his left foot kicking game.

Before he left he had the best short kicking game in super league, could throw a good pass and could take the line on himself. I think a lot of fans got frustrated over his decision making - when to run, when to pass and when to kick. Watching him in Oz it looks like his decision making has massively improved. He’d come back to us a much better player if we re-signed him

Would love to see him back here and I think we will at some point but it may be another year on top of this one if the Raiders dig in.

Long term Williams and Smith is everything I’d love to see in a Wigan halfback pairing. Two lads developed through the academy, whose skills compliment each other really well. Having those two tied down along with Powell at 9 and Bateman at 13 gives you great stability and let’s you concentrate on filling in the gaps around them.

Williams will be in BIG demand over here. Wire, Leeds, Saints and Wigan will all be looking for at least one halfback next year. His relationship with Lenagan and Radlinski was good so that should give us a bit of a start. We will almost certainly lose Gildart to Aus as he is desperate to try his hand over there, Hastings, Leuluai, Clarke, Clubb will probably all be gone so money shouldn't be an issue.

Given our track record I’d put us at heavy favourites.

Don’t think Saints will end up needing one. I can see Fages staying there and then they have Dodds and even if they do then if they can’t afford Fages, they can’t afford Williams. Wire will get Trueman but may need two, although I’m not sure they’ll want to pump huge money in to two halfbacks after having so much tied up in Austin/Widdop recently. Leeds possibly. They’ll have Gale and Eastmond but will probably want one although I’d be surprised if they beat us to him.

If he comes back then I think we’ll get it sorted, although teams will push his salary up.

If we get the Canberra Raiders version of George Williams I'd be all right with it. Definitely don't want to see the 2019 version of Williams again.
