Good move for Hastings & he'll go well under Madge. I wonder if he's going over to play 9 as they've got two youngish HB's?

From our POV I'd make them work for it. I'd happily take Russell Packer on loan for the rest of the season & ask for a them to pay a % of his wages too. He's not the long-term option, but he's an experienced middle and we need one. If we can work this and get him dirt cheap, then I'd be happy.

This has absolutely p*ssed me off, one day before the start of the season???? Tell them to swivel they can have him for free next season. Why screw ourselves up, I don't care if its 250k+ fee either.

Doubt Packer would get a visa given his history.

One player I would want would be Leilua. He’s been dropped for this week by West’s as I understand it.

Same here, it’s sadly the final nail in the coffin for Hastings for me, decent player but he is not worth the drama he comes with. Good luck to him because if he brings that drama back to the NRL, I don’t think he can handle the repercussions.

I’m not one for demanding a statement from the club over ever single thing however on this occasion given Madge as head coach at West’s has discussed it in the media and the timing of the potential move I think the club need to address it publicly today.

Remember a few years ago on the eve of the new season we got deducted points for salary cap breach (OK we got them back later in the year) but surely it can't be good for the preparation for Round 1.

Good point on the visa. Tbh I have zero idea on that legal side of stuff.

My 1st thought was Leilua, but I guess we don't need him? He's better than Zak and Gildart & I'd love to see him dishing it out, but there's other more pressing issues in the squad.

What about Mybe? He seems to be on the outer with the Laurie, Doueihi, Brooks and now potentially Hastings.

Mybe, Field and Smith as our spine isn't too shabby and Field + Mybe can play a couple of positions.

Get shut. He doesn’t want to be here, he’s made that perfectly clear. I’d rather struggle initially and sign a HB replacement than have a player yearning to go back to the NRL making no effort to hide the fact he doesn’t want to wear cherry and white. Run with Field/Smith/Tommy for the time being.
