I’m awaiting Hastings getting a hammering from our fans over this story.

In relation to a transfer fee it may be they would consider a player exchange couple of big names not firing for them at the moment.

Ultimately though if there is any truth in this the club hold all the aces.

Hastings is in the Uk and he is under contract.

The only way we should agree to his departure is if we have an adequate replacement lined up who will hang around for the next 2/3 seasons.

If we don’t then it should be a non starter.

I don't normally say the club should dig their heels in, but I think they should in this instance unless the transfer fee is very attractive. It would likely be difficult to do much with the cap space at this point.

He clearly wants to go. That much is clear from the interview a few weeks back. For me, get the transfer fee and get shut. It would be a blow definitely but with him not joining pre season until ridiculously late kinda plays in our favour in that he hasn’t had much, if any, input.

I’d rather someone be at the club who wants to be here than one who’s pining to join - and I’m paraphrasing here - any NRL club, struggling or not.

It all comes down to Hastings thoughts for me. Does he want to go to Wests? If he does then I’d look to get the best fee possible for him as we don’t need players who’d rather be elsewhere.

I hope it’s a wake up call for Rads/Lenagan that the club need to start planning for the longer term for me. We’re getting ourselves in such a tricky position having a coach and some of our best players who just commit year to year. It leaves you wide open and as we’re seeing there’s speculation constantly flying around.

Big transfer fee and let him go for me.

Not ideal obviously on the eve of the season (we are a better side with him). But if he played against Leigh or Wakefield and did his ACL or something we’d be without him all year anyway.

The blokes dream is to play NRL half back, England’s rubbish to be in at the minute with covid being prevalent, I’m sure he said one of his family members is having an operation soon too.

So don’t blame him one bit in wanting to go.

Let him go if the fee is up to scratch.

I like the lad and his style of play but it’s becoming a circus if Wigan can get a decent fee cash in on him,sad but I never see panic buys working out and for the Tigers this is a panic buy if it goes ahead I shall watch with j retest how it goes.

Anyone know what’s happening with French? Has he returned yet or is he still down under?
