Hastings I think took up the option of a second year. The option was in his favour so nothing we could do.

I posed the question in response to any thoughts that Hastings will stay in Australia - I'm not convinced we would be in an altogether worse position if it meant we could recruit two front-rowers sooner, particularly considering Hastings would be gone in October anyway.

A few of the senior players wouldn’t disagree with you.
On the prop front we have a large number to pick from but the quality is lacking

I may be in the minority here but I really don’t think we’d be that worse off if JH didn’t come back. We’ve good cover and players ready to fill in in the halves and we’d have a good chunk of money, plus the GB money, to spend.

I want him to come back obviously, I think he’s a terrific player on his day but equally I just don’t think it’s harm us as much as some would make out.

Both of them cost us really. The 2 penalties were easily avoidable (especially if Theo doesn’t go down like he has been shot) but if Zak kicks one of his two goals we win the game.

Personally I attribute the loss to poor decision making with the option to take 2, then not chasing the kick and allowing Lomax to run 30 yards.

I hope that I am right that Hastings has never been anything but a complete professional. He obviously wants to go back to Australia and I do not blame him but he has always given his best for the team that he works for. I imagine that the club was well aware of his wishes when we signed Jai Field. If there had been an offer from Aus he would have been off so his best bet is to play a blinder this season and earn himself a contract in the NRL.

They seem pretty convinced it’ll happen. I’d be absolutely gutted tbh. Wane coaching Wire to victories over us feels so wrong.
