Interesting to hear that he's been talking to Sean O'Brien who plays for London Irish.
For those that don't know - O'Brien had the same op done, with the same surgeon GB is lined up to see and is in great form at the min. He's 34 and there's a little bit of talk from the RU press about him playing for Ireland again.
Now there's a LONG way to go for GB, but that has to give him hope.
Rugby Union is a lot less intense than League and you can maybe get away with it a bit more? I don’t know much about O’Brien but we had an international and Lions flanker in Andy Powell and he was probably the only player in recent times that I have seen in a Wigan shirt that maybe looked in worse nick than George Burgess!!!
To keep in touch with him would be wise and just see how it goes. They may feel like he ends up being worth a deal and as long as that could be negotiated and the money was sensible then they may feel it’s worth it. The one thing I’m sure they would do this time would be to put him through check after check after check and if you’ve done that and you’re getting him on low money you could pull off a very shrewd signing. He’s never going to be the same player again but he could still be a player who is better than many of his peers in the prop department.
There’s a lot of ifs, but, if he has the op and it’s successful I’d jump at the chance to take him back.
Why would you?
Wigan wouldn't be able to make a decision at the point of the Op being successful, it would surely be after the recovery and the physio. At which point in time you would probably guess it would be close to the 2021 season being finished.
If that is correct he will have spent 2 years out of the game and it wouldn't be a risk worth taking.
He will move back to Sydney. Not sure why he would stay in the UK if he isn't playing rugby here.
It is when you factor in he spent pretty much the whole of last year out and there is no guarantee that he will be able to play rugby again.
its not considering the new op and rehab is a year the same as an ACL, how many games did Manfredi play in 2017,2018 and 2019? 9? George has played 8 in 1 season.

What point are you even making?
That George's injury is no difference to an ACL in terms of timelines? That simply isn't true when you factor in how long George's injury has gone on for and will go on for and the fact he has had to medically retire or whatever they are calling it.

Burgess has probably cost us more in in wages in that one season that Manfredi has cost us in 5 seasons. And during a time when the club has little to no operational revenue streams.
Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

Most idiotic post ever goes to Grimmy..... The way to restart should be an arm wrestle between a designated player from each side.
Manfredi's was different injuries wasn't it? I don't think the club could have predicted that he would play 9 games in 3 seasons or whatever it was, otherwise he would have been gone. I'm struggling to see any relevance between him and G.Burgess.

yes but all caused in the same knee as it keeps flaring up, what im saying is, is that Nathan said its not similar to an ACL as its a different timeline im saying its similar as its an entire year with rehab so then I put on how long Dom has been out with his ACL and and recurring injuries from it, so George will be out for an entire year but ACL's are also and is no guarantee after was the point I was making
