Looks like we might be looking at mid-season recruitment according to Lam's interview. Makes sense to me - we don't necessarily need more players right from the start but we may need extra depth if injuries hit the smaller squad and hopefully we can bring in some extra quality up front by the time the bigger games come around.

Very much the norm now. See where you're lacking or need to replace due to injury and give a much needed boost to the side.

Heard a few rumours that Hastings is being targeted by West Tigers and was close to signing.

Not true according to “The Mole” although he expects they will be front runners for his signature at the end of the upcoming season.

The Hastings to West Tigers rumours seem to be everywhere this morning! As does Falau going to St George for this season...

Yeah, Iv read that, although it’s for next season, doesn’t seem to be the way Jackson plays it, he’s left it until the last minute to commit every season over here.

So that tells me that we do have salary cap available now.

OR

Someone is due to leave before the season start and we don't plan to initially replace them.

The Mole said Hastings wouldn't be here this season tbf, and that the Raiders were out of the running to sign George Williams from us. He does get some right but I think people give him more credit than he is due.

He’ll be at Wigan for 2021 and then I think we all know the chances are he’ll head back down under after that. I think that move can work for all parties as we need a spot to open up for Harry Smith at some point. We get chance this season to look if Field and Smith can be the men to replace Hastings and Leuluai for the longer term.

I like Hastings but would it hurt us so much if he did leave? Smith is knocking around and deserves a good run. Either way Field would likely partner at HB and we have Tommy as back up or even as a starter.

It’s not ideal but equally it’s not disastrous IMO

For me he's our best player and it would be a huge loss. We've got a very good team lined up for next season and, for once, I'm happy to focus on the here and now. Hastings is very much a here and now player too, Smith's time will come.

We've not won a trophy in a little while and setting that right next year is a must for me. Hastings will play the biggest part in that.
