I think the game is going (or already has gone) more towards only having one hooker in the 17 due to the interchange reduction. It's not really worth using up two of your eight interchanges bringing the starting hooker off and back on when most of them can play 80 minutes now. A cap-friendly backup hooker who only gets a game when Powell is injured/rested could therefore be the way to go rather than trying to go for someone of Leuluai's calibre when he retires. Whether Borough is the answer is another matter of course.

I agree,hes just not got that "something" about him to make me think he's destined for a long career here at Wigan,ive been wrong before and will be wrong again no doubt but he is a long way off being super league ready hopefully Halifax will give him the game time the club needs to see if hes going to stay the course.

He’s always impressed me in the academy with ball in hand. He’s a good runner of a ball and causes plenty of problems around dummy half but you don’t get your defence tested at that level in a great Wigan side, like you do in the first team and it’s that side of his game that’s worried me. I wouldn’t rule him out yet but he needs to take his opportunity to impress during this loan spell.

I was told Clarke had agreed elsewhere a while ago now from a very reliable source so a little confused as to what the holdup is.

Looking at a few social media posts and earlier news interviews, he's got his eyes set on Hollywood.

Either way it doesn't seem like he's going to be hard up.
