Probably in a minority but I think we need Clubb however if he was offered a 2 year deal elsewhere then you couldn’t begrudge him that kind of opportunity to extend his career.

There won’t be many better Props with his leadership and experience playing a backup role to the 17 man playing squad.

I don’t think he will be named as a regular but spelling the youngsters or covering for injury I think he will be very valuable.

If he goes I think he would need replacing which would mean bringing in 2 more props not 1 that I believe we currently need.

I still can’t for the life of me understand why we extended his contract by two years last time. One year I could’ve just about understood but two years was called out as being crazy by everyone at the time. One of the issues I have with it is that it leaves him open to ridicule now and that’s a little unfair IMO. He has been a good player for us, he’s pushed himself through some really serious injuries and illness and I’d call him a good servant overall but he should’ve been thanked for his contribution back in October 2019 and let go.

Normally with you on most points, but not this one. We have Clubb and Burgess who cannot cut it and are both on higher money than most of the other props we roll out week in week out (granted Clubb isnt on Burgess money - well I hope not).

If we cant shift Burgess we have to shift Clubb (personally I would get shot of both if possible assuming Burgess cannot be fixed) and get in a prop or 2 who can do the mileage.

I hear all this about Clubb is a leader and good in the dressing room, but if Wigan Warriors dont have enough leaders and back room staff to support the squad and the youngsters meaning this is a reason to keep Clubb, then we are in a world of trouble.

I dont believe this for a minute and with salary caps having a well paid man in the squad to support and be back up makes no sense. Back up plan is the youngsters.

Ideal world for me is fix or get rid of Burgess (I am ignoring the contractual issue right now as this is hypothetical) get rid of Clubb, bring in a top prop and a decent back up prop who will do a job a la Singleton (or what Clarke should have been).

Clubb has been an excellent signing imo but his best days are gone and if he gets a good offer from a lesser club like Leeds then he goes with my best wishes

Yes I've heard this rumour as well.

With Ava not returning for Leeds they have some kitty available and are keen to bring in another front rower to bolster their pack.

They've been sniffing around Clubb for a while now and it seems they may finally get their man

I think he may have got 2 year deal because at the time I believe that Castleford were also after him and to retain him we had to offer a 2 year deal. Cas at the time I think we’re offering him a 3 year deal.

Clubb was ok when he first came but has been poor for several seasons and personally like yourselfI wouldn’t have extended his contract even for a year that I believe he was originally offered.

If the rumours are true and we are getting shut of Clark, Clubb and Burgess retiring on top of Navarette who is a confirmed departure it leaves us carrying very little deadwood and I imagine a large amount of cap space. Maybe we could make a play for Luke Thompson or Watts.
