It really does make you wonder what IL's strategy is, doesn't it? We are still as desperate for front row power as ever and yet again we see suitable players being picked up one after the other. Is IL petrified in the headlights or working to a cunning plan? :?

I cannot help but think it must be a cunning plan, there is no way we can continue to allow top quality players in positions that we need sign for other clubs without having some strategy in place..........hopefully.

What sort of strategy do you believe we have?

I am anxiously waiting for the date of the next fans' forum to be able to ask IL specifically about the recruitment strategy.

I am not all doom and gloom about the issue however. I am OK with being more selective with future signings as signing the wrong player is worse than signing no one as you are tied to a big contract taking up cap space for 2/3 years. Players like O'Meley and Webb I can half understand - one is injury prone and past his best whilst the other is woefully inconsistent and wouldn't get a visa anyway.

In some ways I respect Lenagan for having the backbone to be able to take the inevitable criticism from the fans and not make signings for the sake of it against his better judgement- something that has happened frequently before.

Given we signed Roberts over a year before he was due to arrive, and then his circumstances changed and he came this year.

I suspect that we may well have made signings for 2011, hence we are going to consolidate next year as we could not bring players in for only 1 year from outside the current squad that would improve it, hence we seem to be accepting defeat next year, with a view to making a massive impact with some top quality signings in 2011.

If this is the case my concern is that the quality signings have for the second year in a row been moved back a season and we may well be looking at a pipe dream rather than a confirmed top quality signing.

I think the clubs signings this year are going to be very minimal, to such an extent we may not bring anyone. This may be down to the fact that the club see no one currently available as right for whatever reason, or it could be they are waiting for players coming off contract at the end of 2010 that they do feel are suitable to take us forward.

My feelings are that it's probably right to wait for the correct people rather than sign the wrong type of player, however can we afford to go another year with the deficiencies in the team that we know we have continuing.

What will back that theory up of yours jon for me, will be if the club give only 1 year deals to the likes of Phelps, Coley and Bailey so paving the way for a big spend in 2011.
