I am very firmly in the camp of not buying anything with the new badge on. I do not understand the need to change and more importantly the way it was handled was awful. In our house that results in 4 less shirts plus all the other stuff that we all buy. I know they told us that we had record sales last year but i just do not beleive it. Surely we sold more during those wembley trips? although keeping records was not a priority back then it seems.
I agree that its not the MOST important thing but it does matter. We have been here before when they tried introducing that awful design on the blue oval of the guy with the sheild. We were told that it was all done "get over it"
It was not and we reverted to the "proper badge"
What don’t you understand about the need for change? There are two very clear reasons in my opinion.
1 - financial - they have explained it’s a lot cheaper to use the new badge which should hopefully result in the club increasing revenues & therefore profit.
Something I think we can all agree on is needed given the fact IL has to use his own personally money to allow us to break even.
2 - the club want to be more modern, more digitised and to attract and appeal to the younger audience. The badge will apparently allow them to do that.
Something I think we can all agree on is Wigan need more fans and targeting youngsters is a good way to go.
Do you understand the reasons the club gave or don’t agree with them? They are two very different things and by boycotting such purchasing you are just cutting your nose off to spite your face.
Let’s drop the cherry and white forever Cherry must be a costly colour to produce so let’s play in white. Simple n cost effective Let’s play in white with a red vee or be different and say a blue vee
Forget the 150 anniversary it’s a load of shoite it’s only our heritage and history
How old is the warriors nonsense? A term I never use or ever will do. Let’s drop the biggest load of shoite that very few people will give a fishes tit about.
You keep your warriors I’ll keep my ancient and loyal .
Making things up doesn’t help your argument, in fact it hinders it and shows it to be abit silly.
I’ll have both thanks, I never ditched Ancient and Loyal and neither did the club.

One thing I will say about the supposed record sales, is that it was always likely to be the case, unless the fans on mass decided to boycott the new badge. A lot of people like to have up to date gear and a brand new badge was always likely to get people out buying new items on mass. I also think people wanted to do their bit during Covid, to purchase merchandise and help put money in to the club. I do believe the quote that they had hugely increased sales but I don’t think you’ll get a really accurate picture until we’ve had this badge for a few seasons.
I’ve always got the frustrations of people and I don’t particularly rate the badge myself but I absolutely understand the reasons behind it. If they had their time again I’d like to think they’d possibly have tweaked the design and handled the launch differently but it’s done now and it doesn’t cross my mind other than the off time a thread crops up on here.

I'd like to think you will be buying 4 x Ellgren Retro shirts complete with crest then.
1. Gives you a shirt to wear on match days. 2. Puts much needed revenue into the clubs coffers.
Due to work commitments I've been unable to purchase a season ticket for a few years now but have put the same amount in ££ of merchandise to cover. I will also hope to get to as many games as I can, paying on gate.

Producing a fabric in two colours isn’t more expensive than just simple old white? Cost was according to KR a major consideration in changing the badge. Perhaps one of the most intricate badges anywhere in world is the All Blacks badge. Do honestly expect the All Blacks to ever change their iconic Silver Birch badge due to cost or some daft marketing need?
If a clubs badge can be changed why can’t our colours?? Everything is up for grabs. Name, badge why not colours? I’d quite like blue shirts and white shorts for home games then primrose and blue for away games. That’ll keep the landlords happy and I’m sure Wire & Leeds won’t mind changing their strips when they play us their grounds. The year after we could play in pink home and away. That’ll significantly increase our LGBT+ credentials and major cost savings in production costs. Win win. Get in.
Not sure which bit you think I made up or maybe I’m being silly again?
Ah is it keeping the A&L on heritage gear where the club haven’t ditched our heritage?? Very thoughtful and I’m sure they haven’t included the enormous cost of producing the A&L in the retail prices for heritage items??
Maybe a few of us hold our heritage to be sacrosanct. Nah I’m just being silly again.

This is why I believe the club should have a retro/heritage section in the club shop and online. For those supporters happy to purchase new merchandise can carry on doing so, those supporters who prefer the more traditional merchandise can continue to support the club and wear their colours with pride.
If the club receive enough feedback from those frustrated fans (especially if there is a significant minority) it makes sense to cater to them if it is commercially viable.

They have got some retro shirts on the site already but it is something they will hopefully extend over time.
Pemps needs roll the clock back and get banging out the retro shirts. Got a good few in the wardrobe.

My lads love all the old Ellgren stuff that I always thought was a bit naff. If there is a market for it somebody somewhere will fill the demand.
Some of the new merchandise is pretty decent and my grandson loves it however, personally I’d just love to see the A&L on it. By the way my grandson would love anything to do with Wigan the badge means nothing to him.
Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

The club do have a link to a retro merchandise section on the website, when you click the link it takes you to a third party site which I assume the club take a % from.
