Which of? : Mon Dec 27, 2021 12:00 pm
Let's have some positives to talk about. Who from the new signings and you looking forward to seeing, and why?

For me, it's Cust, Mago and Miski.

Cust, he seems excited to be here, very talented and wants to have the responsibility of being a dominant half.

Mago, I think we are all hoping for a prop that can make a dent and prop we enjoy watching.

Miski, he looks like a real handful, very explosive. I can't see him starting the season unless we have injuries, but I expect the crowd will like him once he does get a chance.

I’d probably go with Kaide Ellis. He looks impressive in terms of his stature when you see training clips, he’s got a point to prove and I like what I see in interviews and on social media in terms of how he settling in to living here. He seems to be comfortable and is making all the right noises about what he wants from his time here, i.e to improve as a player and to win things and not have a holiday.

It’s going to be very interesting watching the friendly vs Wire and the early games. There are so many unknowns about this squad. Let’s hope they leave us all excited for what’s ahead and not panicking but it really could go either way.

Re: Which of? : Mon Dec 27, 2021 2:17 pm
Having watched the Leeds v Trinity game, Leeds look very capable of stepping forward to challenge Saints off the back of a big pack, and that is where we must see improvements so for me it’s Mago and Ellis that will be the interesting ones for me.

Cust could be a magician but without a platform there will only be so much he can do, so those guys really need to be firing if we are going to be part of the chasing pack.

Not a new signing but I’m expecting big improvements from Smith this year which again combined with hopefully some go forward will be key in us challenging at the important times of the year.

I know it’s not answering the question but it’s the likes of Havard, Byrne, Partington, Shorrocks and Smithies that interest me. They are all at the stage in their career where they should be able to step up a gear. It’s whether they can become genuine first team regulars or whether they fade away.

Think this chap has gone to the top of my list for people I’m looking forward to see. I think Mago said he was impressive in training

Looking forward to what Cust can bring to the team.

Really hope Fields can do well this year. Potentially take over the FB spot if French stays in Oz

Field really should be in the category of new players we’re looking forward to seeing what they can do. He may as well have not been here last season and hopefully he’s got his head down, worked hard and is determined to show what he can do.

It sounds extremely doubtful French will make the first round and Hardaker mentioned him being back in full training at the end of Jan, so he may miss the first few rounds as well, so that fullback spot of definitely open.

Mago.

For me, he looks like an absolute beast but….so did Harvey Howard, Jerry Seu Seu and Burgess.

If Mago is the real deal then I expect the pack to be much stronger, we should know pretty early in the season how much more go forward we have.

I did think last season we were a bit soft so controlled aggression will be key from the forwards.

Field has also been running at scrum half in training.
