He’s an ok reporter but I find he dodges asking the tough questions and reporting on the truth of what’s going on.

Not surprised with the way that the newspaper in more recent times has now gone so downhill compared to other local newspapers.

Now all doom and gloom about the pandemic and hardly any decent local news stories.

I think that's local journalism in a nutshell tbf. I'm not sure if it's down to a lack of resource or they don't want to bite the hand that feeds them, but there's very little compelling reasons to read most local papers.

I know from personal experience that I can very easily ring up a number of local rags and get a story in there about the company I work for. Let's face it though, no one outside our business + a few key people care that we've won an award, or got some new business in. It's just filler for the paper and a bit of free publicity for us. Why would anyone take out a subscription to read stuff like that?

I agree. It winds me up something rotten the “Wigan Today” website. Constant adverts flashing across the screen obscuring the articles and sticking it behind a pay wall which I wouldn’t pay 1p for never mind whatever it is they’re asking for such is the quality of the content which in the main is regurgitated nonsense from other local papers.

I’ll be honest the only reason I still go on is to see if there’s anyone I know from school/college in the “A week in Court” post. I haven’t been disappointed.
