Very interesting conclusion from disciplinary committee. Ban for Saints player and not Greenwood! Probably says it all. Thaler got it badly wrong.
Not sure he did. At the ground live, there didn't seem to be anything in the tackle. Just two big lads colliding. No one saw anything other than Greenwood lashing out. If it was televised, you'd possibly have seen both being yellow carded, which would have been a fairer outcome. There is secondary contact with Greenwood's head, but it's not a bad tackle, initial contact is chest on chest and the arms wrap around. Greenwood's head comes forward and there is secondary contact. A yellow is the right call there. A 2 game ban is utterly daft, given they let the blatant high shot on Ritson, which was far worse and far more deliberate away with nothing. If on TV that would have been a card and English would have likely been sent off too, the lack of a ban for that, despite being charged, was weird. I think Watson has played a blinder in his interview and getting the clips of the Greenwood incident out and complaining about Knowles, which he knows is like a moth to a flame. He knew Knowles did nothing, but the mere mention of his name got social media and the RL media frothing about Saints again, with this weird obsession everyone has with Knowles. Not one clip of the English cannonball or the high shot on Ritson anywhere to be seen.
