Simply Unacceptable : Sun Sep 03, 2017 10:47 pm
It was simply what it was, simply unacceptable. The fans did not deserve a performance like that today.
There was no appreciation of the significance of the game in the context of the League table up to today.
Players seemed clueless and basically uninterested in how to beat Widnes, who to their credit played simple and basic rugby. A top 4 SL side would have wiped the floor with either of us based on those performances.
No Antoni Maria? Please, Mr jukes, tell me he was injured because otherwise there is no reason I can imagine why he should not have played based on his current form. Danny Tickle has given is all but he should not have played ahead of Antoni on current form, and of course there are others who would fit that category.
And as for the other significant crime committed by the players today, why did at least 10 of the Leigh players walk off the pitch at the end of the game without acknowledging the Leigh fans in the North and West stands? I saw Micky, Cory, Harrison, Greg, Atelea and Glenn at the end. Win. lose or draw the fans will show the appreciation they see fit. We are a fair and knowledgeable bunch and deserve better than that. Get your heads up and show some respect!
It's time to look in the mirror boys and if you don't like what you see then we will have a chance of beating Warrington.
On the other hand, if you do like what you see, then we are goosed. Defeat can be accepted in certain circumstances but lack of effort is always unforgivable.

Plenty of effort, in my opinion - much of it misdirected. Less desire than Widnes, less skill than Widnes, less 'nous' than Widnes, in fact less of everything than Widnes for the THIRD time this season - and remember, they finished below us in the SL! :(

Agree Alan , effort got in the way of good decision making , we ran down too many blind alleys , didn't get to a 5 th tackle kick enough , didn't build pressure enough , just very poor

Lot of work needed to come up with a game plan to beat Wire now

It seems every time we have a break we fall apart , unfortunately the next break is just before the MPG , which looks likely now

Re: Simply Unacceptable : Mon Sep 04, 2017 8:03 am
I had an Inkling at the beginning of the season that collectivley the engine room of the team were a bit to long in the tooth, as the season has progressed and they have got older together sadly it is an easily recognisable fact that we are employing to many aged players who simply are struggling to keep going. When a body is knackered it is not only the energy levels that is affected the mental faculties wane as well.
Salford went down the same path when Brian Noble was in charge, taking on board expierienced players but after a quite a few years in SL void of the energy levels necessary and required, result wholesale changes not only of the team but also the supposedly brains trust of the club.
SL or relegation we need at the very least 6 changes, and a change of the on field tactics and direction would not go amiss either.
For me it is also highlighting the stupidity of whichever blithering idiot at the club decided to challenge the disciplinary over Actons sentance when the rule of thumb has been an increase in suspension of the number of games to miss, we could definatley do with him at London and as is more likely the looming MPG.

We have been done over twice by a lower division side that apparently did not pose the Championships biggest threat to us (!)

So lets not start thinking we are in the MPG already. Halifax and especially London will be confident of turning us over likewise.Especially when Marshall and Henderson review that rubbish.

In fact I would make London the favourites to beat Leigh right now, given both sides performances this weekend.

I agree Harold. We really need two wins, to ensure an appearance in the MPG. If we play like we did against Catalans and Salford, that shouldn't be a problem, but if we play like we did yesterday, or against Hull KR, (i.e. if we allow them to dictate the game) I can't see where those two wins are going to come from.

I agree with 'Harry Stottle' about our 'ageing' players, and that's why the return of Maria is a must for me. The selection of Pelissier (or Hood) and Higson (and maybe even Hampshire) should provide a desperately needed boost in energy and enthusiasm levels

Absolutely Steve. Credit to Widnes though, (and HKR too) as they worked out exactly how to play us, and stuck to their highly effective tactics. We are desperately missing the 'go forward' and aggression of Hock and Acton, but every team in this competition is now missing key players.

Agree with this. And frankly, even if we did make the MPG, what's likely to happen? Absolutely no character to recover from something going against them. Disgusting from a set of well paid players.
