how did u see today : Sun Mar 22, 2009 7:57 pm
Terrible.

Why ? Players who can,t tackle and they are the same ones who missed tackles last week.

Shocking display.

Mort worst performance Ive seen from him in a Leigh shirt. Madden not the first time this season. Reay another one but went off early doors. Ridyard not today.

Donlan must play full back for me.

Forwards today ................not one broke the line.

Mom well McConnell ok but he wasn,t special was he ?

Conclusion pack too small, backs weak defensively, not enough pace.

Was it just a collective bad day ?

Well my view is as follows:

Not enough pace out wide, but then we have not had a pacy back line for decades!

Ridyard is still learning his trade at this level and shouldn't have such expectations on his shoulders, remember if the Aussie 6 would have got his work permit Ridyard would have been the standoff in the reserves and been eased into the first team. We are desperate for at least 1 specialist centre, as Frank says Donlan is wasted at fullback. TBF Morty only gets a spot because we don't have another specialist goalkicker at the moment (Stanton can kick them for fun, and Marshy is only just back in training). We need one more "grunt" prop to compliment Hobson.

To put things in perspective we ere missing the following players today who would have been in the 17 : Marshy, Stanton, Armi, Aaron and Reay. Would they have made the difference?

For me, we made a bad tactical error in having Watson defend in the right centre position and then leaving him there when it was obvious to all that Batley were scoring at will in that channel. I thought in the secong half we would have moved him more central, had Higson where he should have been and JT on the inside of him to bolster that right flank. But no...and they went and scored there again, round Stewart as if he wasn't there. I thought except for the right centre we weren't that bad defensively. Batley didn't look like scoring anywhere else...but then they scored so easily down their left they didn't need to. Players: Ridyard may be a nice bloke but why he is on the pitch and Durbin on the bench is a complete mystery. Everyone today was at best adequate. Having said that, we could have drawn near the end. Hopefully we'll learn from that, or rather Ned will.

I too was wondering why Watson was at centre seeing that we supposedly had a full squad to choose from apart from Armistead according to paper and as you said a mystery why Durbin doesnt start from the off as the game was much better with his input i was very dissapointed today with most aspects of the match very mediocre.

Leigh Rugby is for life not just for Christmas.

: Sun Mar 22, 2009 11:30 pm
I was niffed before I got in. Large queue standing outside in a cold wind with people behind me asking why can't you pay at the turnstiles? it was there first game, swipe cards that you have to hand in. what sense is that! no bar in the stadium like the MM bar to meet in, pricy beer and food, small crowd and poor rugby.

All in all a typical enjoyable experience at LSV and watching Leigh. See you all at the next game.

well we all know they have a couple of decent fast wingers, so why was special attention not igvenb to them, they made us look foolish in that 1st half, i am sorry but that was totally unacceptable and we have to do a load better. Same old problems, no real size in the pack, defo no spped in the backs and a lack of creaticity from half back, i feel sorry for people like c hill who once again led by example, and i asked the same question re durbin, spent majority of game on bench, why kelly why.
