"Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!" Matthew 4:19

Things I learned on 11/08/12

Gareth Hock can't pass
Gareth Hock can't run
Gareth Hock can't fight

I'm assured he can snort a line of coke the size of a Mecca dauber though.

IS it time we got rid of Smith? : Mon Sep 17, 2012 6:46 pm
I know what you are probably thinking, 'but he's the messiah?' and 'ISWT' and I realize where you are coming from but it is undoubtable that Smith is not as good as we think he is. You must agree we are being deluded by the hype. Just think, his tactics (especially in the playoffs) have been way off the mark for some years now. We need only look to this year.; we had a chance to get top of the table by beating London and Widnes, while Wigan had to beat Saints, and he threw it away to give us the best chance in the playoffs; which we have thoroughly failed in so far.

I think we can agree that it is true that he has brought Warrington Wolves away from the 10th position result he started us with but you must also remember that we have the likes of Myler in the team now (a player that, as many of this board have said, is not being used effectively in the team) and the whole club has a much better grounding and is able to attract bigger names. Why must we settle for a name we got when we weren't even playoff contenders. There is no sentimentality in sport.

Ultimately, I think you can all agree that Smith has done us a massive favour over the last few years to help us get where we are today but it is about time that we parted ways and maybe introduced someone fresh like Barrie McDermott at Leeds and Rush at Saints, in order for us to become a real contender. These are the coaches in Super League that show real emotion and, therefore, get the best out of a team.

You've recently began to be taken almost seriously on here, youngster. You've thrown all that good work out of the window.

Grade inflation strikes again! It's a U at best. Though he could ask for a re-mark these days, I suppose ;)

Smith is leading us up a blind alley.

Im convinced he will go after next year, leaving us with a squad full of OAP's and untried and untested youngsters.

Whoever comes in to replace him is gonna have a hell of a rebuilding job on his hands imo.

Then and only then will Smith fans really realise what Smith has done. He is a genius but not how most think he is.
