The come back : Sat May 30, 2009 10:27 pm
Was anyone else surprised? I know we were only 10 points behind but KR really lifted and I felt like they were going to run away with the game around 5 minutes after they scored that second try of the second half. It has happened to us so many times in the past.

Credit to the guys for getting back into the game though, and credit to Chris Bridge who kicked two pretty tricky conversions to give us the lead.

Smith has really got the players playing for the full 80 no matter what the score is against us. That is three games in a row we have won now after coming from behind - you could even say four if you include the early Featherstone try  . Thought he also did a good job keeping the players calm during the break before golden point too, a few of them were clearly rattled up because they weren’t allowed the scrum.

I think the difference in the golden point thing was that Tony Smith was actually on the sidelines, Justin was sat in his box. Would give the players a hell of a lot of confidence to hear a few words from your coach in a situation like that.

Your comeback was purely down to your team wanting it more, and the constant attack in the first half had tired our players out. Kudos to Wire, your tails were up more than ours, and the best team won. As I've said in some other threads - you best go on to win it now!! :D

I very much doubt that made any difference.

Ditto - RL is now a professional sport and i can't see a few words from the Coach contributing much at all to the final result.

I disagree. If I was out there seeing my coach and getting a confidence boost could do the world of good. Of course it is down to how the players ultimately play, and today, only Cooke looked interested, and you deserved the win.

I see your angle mate but i think your basing your opinion from watching football prior to Penalties. But this instance only really involves deciding who will take the penalties.

I'll hold my hands up and say after going 22-12 down that I thought that was the end of it all.

I just didn't think we had it in us to come back. I'm glad I was proved wrong!

Same here, I just thought Webster's try was decisive...
