Did many of you watch The Footy show last night ?

If you did, what did you think of the idea thats in the pipeline where an NRL All-Star team will take on an NRL team thats picked by thew fans, The All-Stars team will feature all the top names from the NRL like Billy Slater, Israel Folau, Jonathon Thurston, Darren lockyer, Justin Hodges and Greg Inglis just to name a few

Basically the gist of it seemed to be that the fans will pick the NRL team where they have to include 1 player from each NRL club and the player that gets the most votes in that position will be picked, i take it a panel of NRL coaches will pick the All-stars team.

Interesting idea, it should be a good crowd puller seeing as the fans will want to turn up to watch the side they picked.

Yeah, its the Indigenous All-Stars so Inglis and Thurston will be playing for them, along with the likes of Matty Bowen.

Will be good to see what could almost be a World XIII taking them on, a mix of the best Australian, Kiwi and Pacific Island players.

I wasn`t 100% on how it worked as the plans seemed a bit sketchy with it being at an early stage, yeh your correct it was an Indigenous All-Stars team. Just to make it interesting for a world wide audience they should include the 2009 man of steel from super league and whoever is the England captain at the time because if Fox do cover it then you would think Setanta will get the game.

Would never happen, they're playing too many games as it is with league games and internationals blah blah blah etc...

Seriously though, I'd more than settle down in front of the telly to watch it.

Would be interesting to see an English version, the official England team vs the fans selection.

Then Tony Smith could pick the usual suspects Peacock, Ellis, Burrow, Morley and co, and see how they went against the likes of Westerman, Shenton, Rooney, Myler and some players from outside of the big four clique

What's wrong with a SL Dream Team Vs The NRL equivalent as a pre/post season charity match?

Travelling to the other side of the world for a fixture like this. I think its a good idea, but don't think the clubs CEO's / chairmen would share these sentiments.

The SL team losing by about 50 points could be embarassing as well.

Just imagine the NRL teams backline, would be something like:

Slater, Folau, Hodges, Inglis, Vatuvei, Marshall, Thurston

Perhaps as part of international/World Club Challenge weekends or something, as an exhibition match. Could be handy for those on the fringes of International selection; we also always like to complain that the Ockers are 'battle harderned' in Test Series', having had a match against the Kiwis, when some of our lads aren't involved in the playoffs.
