Ah well, as one of the optimists in the ranks, I thought it was time to have my say on how I'm feeling.
Overall, I'm still not too bad.
I am bitterly disappointed with yesterday, and we need to turn things round soon, but it is some of the performances of some of the other teams in the game that are giving me hope.
Look at Hull. Top after the first few rounds, and now after a losing streak are 8th.
Salford - looked as though they may only win the one game all season (Crusaders at home), and now they have beaten Hull and Leeds away in two weeks.
Bradford - have won the same number of games as us, and they are out of the cup.
Wigan - 2 points ahead of us having played 1 game extra.
Toulouse - after getting 70 stuck on them by Widnes a few weeks back, they then stick 60 on Batley.
There are some strange results, and some strange form going on at the moment. We have just changed our coach, and I'm partly glad that we didn't have a reaction like we did when Lowes took over. That run of wins probably covered up some of the bigger issues. At least Smith can see what he has to work with.
As for this season, as I have highlighted with the teams above, things can soon change. Salford were getting ripped by everybody a few weeks back, and they have worked hard and turned it round, there is no reason why we can't do it.
One of the reasons I generally stay supportive and don't boo and jeer the team, is because when we do go on a winning run I would feel hypocritical, as though I don't have the right to enjoy the good times if I haven't shared the bad times.
For the 2nd game running I am disappointed with the fans for booing. As I said after Friday, these fans have always claimed that if the team puts effort in they will not boo. For the second game on the bounce, I don't feel it is effort that is letting them down, yet they still get boo'd.
No doubt I will get stick, and told I am burying my head in the sand, but hey, I've had plenty of stick from fans over the years for supporting the Wire, and if our own fans will give me stick for standing by them, well that says more about them than me.
Anyway, let's stick with them, Smith will turn it round, hopefully sooner rather than later.
Saints were 5 and 5 last season and everyone thought they were on the turn but look what they did. Not saying we can do that but we all think we know where to improve and things will get better

Let’s take hope from Toluse beating Batley! Ha-ha irrelevance of the highest order!
