Ian Knott wasn’t that bad was he? Did a job as a utility when we were generally a very crap organisation. Same as Rodwell. He was an average Aussie importl but didn’t pretend to be anything else and wa at least a professional off the field. I think we are confusing Steve Anderson’s inability to be a coach with players not being up to much. 2002 can’t be used as a yardstick for future halfbacks!

The Currie rumour has been around for ages and is laughable.

Williams and Tomkins take up the marquee spots and the immense cost of the transfer fee couldn’t be justifiable to Lenagan no matter how much he’d add to the Wigan team.

Yes, possibly unfair. I meant Ian Knott as half-back, which I remember being trialled in a game at Wilderspool when we were at a very low ebb. He kicked the ball out on the full three times in the first half and the experiment wasn't repeated.
