What if..... : Mon Mar 02, 2009 4:47 pm
......Simon Moran gets tired of all the whingers and whiners on this forum, and of all the vieled and not so vieled personal attacks and decides he's had enough.

Who will 'we' be blaming then?
I bet it's not ourselves. It'll be anything but.

We've got a lot to be thankful for imo.

Whilst I think the club has a reasonably sound business model, I don't think it's sound enough that it could withstand him leaving.
I, for one, would not like to see Moran pack up his bags but I would fully understand it if he did.

Sometimes there is something in excess of hysteria here and I only hope those people get real.

Id rather have somebody who wants to run the club as a business and not as a fan.

How would you know any of that?

Listen, okay? You guys'll never believe me. There was two cop cars, okay? And they were chasing this four-wheel deal, this real neat ORV, and there were bullets flying all over the place. It was the most amazing thing I ever saw!

We're one of the best run super league teams with everything that we do. There is a fine line between winning and loosing and we just need to find the difference.

Do you really believe what you're saying?
I can tell you now there is a big gulf between us and Saints/Leeds, it is not a fine line.

norfolkngood wrote:
People talk about bring in this coach or that coach, it's not as simple as pick a name and give him the job. Looking at our fans, there are probably not alot of coaches that would want the job.

It certainly isn't a case of pick anybody because they happen to be at the club, it should be a case of finding the best available to meet the club's ambition, which is to win Super League. As for coaches not wanting the job, we're one of the best run Super League teams in everything we do, we have a fantastic stadium, a set of international players and a good youth system, and we were one of the top ranked clubs when it came to franchising. If any top coach is interested then they need only contact Andrew Johns or Adrian Morley for advice on what the club has to offer.

Top coaches know that there are expectations from the fans.

Mediocrity.

You're being unrealistic if you expect the fans to accept the situation without complaining. They are paying a lot of money to keep going to games and buying the merchandise etc, and at the end of the day the club is about the supporters, when nobody watches the team any more then the club will be wound up.

Lots of these supporters are still paying their money and will do whether the team is bottom or top of the league, but it doesn't mean they are happy about the situation. They want the club to do well and will voice their opinion. If that unsettles people who are being handsomely paid for delivering nothing then hard luck, maybe professional sport isn't for them.

Incidentally can I just state that Tony Smith is definitely NOT the man for Warrington after what happened at the World Cup.

We need to go for the RIGHT man for this job and not just a name certain board members might think is the top man. I hope they have learned their lesson from signing the 'best centre in the world', Matt King.

Hanley might be a option but I wonder if he is still current enough in his methods and wonder how long he would be prepared to stick around.

FFS, club management is completely different from international management, Smith has been successful at club level, fact.

You are missing the point. Smith failed to mould a bunch of individuals and factions into a team. That is exactly why we don't need him at Warrington because that is a major problem here.

He also inherited an already successful team at Leeds. He certainly won't get that here either.

Unfortunately, I don't know of many other multi millionaires who have an interest in Warrington RLFC, so I guess we'll have to make do with Mr Moran, that useless businessman, who like a tight fisted scrooge, has been bank rolling the club for the last few years... :?

By the way, if somebody took over and ran it as a business, I doubt it would get very far...anybody with half a brain knows sports clubs don't make money, especially those in provincial towns playing a minority sport... 8)

What i was really getting at is i want the board to be more proactive especially SM, he has put a lot off wonga into Warrington but on the face of it seems not to do a lot about whats happened, its not just the current situation but the never ending inept performances over the years, thats what most of the fans are sick to death off....been watching them a long long time and i have nearly had my fill of them

Thats an interesting point really. From the World Cup Smith found it hard to gel a team full of individuals together such as our squad at the moment.

However, given the time (3 years I reckon) Smith when he has his team and gets the player he wants in, I'm confident he will be able to hopefully put us in the right direction.
