Indeed, especially when everyone bangs on about Harry Newman being inglis King, meninga gleeson and Lyon all rolled into one, and the saviour of international rugby league

This is almost an exact re run of the drama last year when Ben Currie was in the same position. I am sure there were rumours about Wigan being interested. Maybe the only difference was Ben Curries injury record.
I am sure that we will offer a contract with a value of what we think he is worth. If somebody goes higher and we can't live with that under our cap then so be it.
Good luck to the fella. He is a very solid SL centre.

I think it’s agent talk really. Clubs might be contacted about availability, that way they get into a bidding war, but it’s in a teams interest also to say they’re interested even if they aren’t, to push the cap spend up on the opponent who signs them. o

That's a sound theory but I don't think it's the done thing in rugby league. Don't get me wrong I'd love for us to get a star from saints or Wigan, they've done it enough times to us over the years. I suppose Gleeson was a big statement of intent, he was class I wish he had bucked his ideas up when Tony arrived.

Saints / Wigan haven't taken that many genuine stars off us that I can think of.

Neil Courtney and Ian Potter were the biggest loses to Wigan I could think of. Courtney was the best prop in the league when he left Wilderspool.
