But as the club haven't sacked him yet, it might not quite as black and white as it appears.

The club will have taken legal advice, because they don't want to be on the wrong end of an unfair dismissal case. Better to carry out an investigation first before a knee jerk reaction.

Suspending him while that goes on seems sensible and it seems to me like the club has handled this right, taking quick action without going beyond what they should do at this point.

If he is found guilty then his Warrington career will be over.

The real controversy will come if later on someone tries to sign him, and both the league (it may not be SL) and the club involved will have to make an ethical decision on whether it's appropriate, as with Folau.

Neither glass half full or empty. Just a realist.

Re: Trouble at the mill : Wed Feb 12, 2020 8:54 pm
Wow. Just look at the state of this.
As I type, there are 50, yes 50 RL Fans members (with names.. not the 334 guests) and only 19 of them are Wire fans, and it's 4 days before our next match. You'd be lucky to see 8 on here, any normal day. This is just a sad indictment of society has become. Almost two thirds currently have come to gloat.

IF Gelling has transgressed, then I hope he gets the necessary punishment.
However, if its all a storm in a teacup and things have been blown out of proportion, or he's not guilty, and he has no case to answer, I'm afraid he'll still be tarred with a certain brush
Pitchforks and burning torches are out, yet no one's been found guilty. No one but those involved, know what's gone on, but trial by social media, is already in overdrive.

I'm all for reasonable banter on Wire pages. I rarely visit other sites, and I CERTAINLY DON'T gloat on them (some whoppers are still on here, 6 days after a defeat). I hope the mods keep a close eye on this one. "The mob" can be a baying crowd, who'll only be happy with a certain outcome.

You’re very naive if you think every arrest ever made is available in the public domain.

He was arrested, that’s a fact. On the same night Craig Mullen was arrested and subsequently charged.

They did a good job of damage limitation in all fairness. Escare was lucky they’d had so much bad press beforehand, otherwise he’d have been thrown to the wolves. Instead, they covered it up to protect the clubs reputation.

You think it’s just a coincidence he’s hardly had a game since and was shipped to Wakefield?

Yeah, agree with that. It's the legally wise thing to do.

It's pretty stupid, as many have done, to have a go at the club for not sacking him.

I'd expect him to get the Barba treatment, if guilty.

Innocent until proven guilty so Wire have handled this in the correct way, as any employer should. Suspension pending investigation is correct and I applaud Warrington for doing so, whilst trusting the judicial (whether legal or RFL) to investigate.

Regardless of the club involved, if everyone followed this example then the bad-boy images mentioned earlier should dwindle......

If it was as clear cut as some on here think he would already have been “charged” clearly the CPS/police feel the matter has to be properly investigated before reaching any conclusion, but what do they know?

If you witnessed the incident I hope you have given your details to the police (and you probably shouldn’t be sharing your evidence on public forums).
