I enjoy your posts Sally but you intrigue me as a Wire fan, if you indeed are (no slur intended just genuine enquiry). I'm interested as to why you seem to have so much of a downer on fellow Wire fans' opinions on this forum. When you speak of them as you do are you not considering yourself as part of that number? Or in some way different? I mean we are all Wire fans and we all use this forum so what gives with the sweeping statement?
You seem to have a bit of an insurance policy going wherein you attempt to predict a course of speculative reactions arising from an presently indeterminable outcome. I'm genuinely interested as to why you do that.
I think it comes from his long experience on here.....Most Rugby fans (not just Wire ones) are prone to spouting absolute rubbish whenever things tend to go wrong for their particular sides.
I think once you get past his obvious sarcasm, and little traps that he sets for posters on here, Sally is actually one of the more realistic and interesting contributors on here....Certainly more so than the juvenile idiots who thrive in goading opposing fans into petty arguments.
Sally is he's similar to the boy who cried wolf, sometimes you read a post three times and question if he's being serious or sarcastic, he gets more bites on the sin bin than here though.

Cheers. Agreed I like Sally's contributions and have read them for 5 years+ but I've never really seen Sally come out with something unambiguously positive about his fellow fans. We are not all juvenile idiots, those that are will ignore what he says anyway, and some of have been following the Wire for even longer than him. It just irks to be considered in the same sweeping brushstroke and I wondered why he does it.

Hi Yed, yep been on here long enough to well understand the sarcasm. I get it - honest. I'm not so stupid and I like his posts. I'm more interested in the person behind the post, motivations, and the seemingly contemptuous nature he has for fellow fans whilst predicting the future.
just because you enjoy winding folk up doesn't make you juvenile! this forum has many uses, it's not just for snecking up to sally!
There is 'winding up' in an intelligent, witty manner, a humourous banter if you like, but then there is the absolute nonsense that some on here think equates to being funny.
Again, this isn't just confined to Wire fans, but some certainly are guilty....Witness the plank (Orford Addict, I think), who deliberately went onto the Wigan forum with the sole intention to aggravate their supporters....It was neither intelligent or witty.
I vary, depends on my mood, if I'm sarcastic in the real world, I'll usually come on here and do the same, if I've had a bad day I'll go on the wigan board and talk ballcocks.

Sometimes i feel contemptuous but just hold back.
I often think our posts on here act, sometimes, as a mirror to ourselves.

Yeah it is a bit of a sweeping statement I know all Wire fans have different opinions, some of our fans are very quick to turn though and so I like to hold a mirror up to them so they can see their own hypocrisy, unless we win the Grand Final there will be a lot of back biting on here when our season ends from people who a few weeks earlier were pumped up with how good we are, winding up Wigan fans etc. They will rapidly turn on players.
The way I see it RL is a fickle sport and the way things are judged depends greatly on a bit of luck in one game or a performance in one game - small things like Briers getting the drop goal at Hull KR in the 2009 quarters, or Saints going out in the semis that year, made a huge difference to our future, and confidence as a club, I'm not sure we'd have won the CC in 2010 or improved in general so quickly without those little breaks. But the same works the other way, we are ready to win the GF this year - although not IMO the best team, Wigan are that, but we're a good enough side now to win it whereas we haven't been quite there before. But if something unpopular happens like we bomb out of the playoffs to Saints there will be a large inquest on here on why we aren't good enough, with a lot of players getting heavily criticised, and it begs the question why did we not hear all this before? After one defeat to Wigan the whole business of our backline being too slow came up, it had not even been mentioned all season, and it has quickly stopped being talked about since - but there's no doubt that will be a major talking point if we get knocked out. The one about Solomonas weight comes up after every defeat there will be people saying he's not fit enough to be a SL player and yet half the rest of the time everybody is going on about what a genius ball player he is.
Like I saw I know not all Wire fans do this but the ones that don't aren't going to get offended because they recognise the same things.
