To be fair recognising that you have a problem is often cited as the first step on the road to recovery. I too wish Chambers all the best in his new role, at least the Club's hierarchy have concluded that all was not well with the structure of the Club and addressed it.
It pains me to use this particular football analogy, but City worked towards where they are now under Guardiola by putting their house in order first. The difference of course being that they seemed to have targeted their man and put all the 'back of house' pieces in place with Director of Football Scouting and Recruitment roles on the basis of 'what would Pep want?'
They didn't use their new found wealth to put in place what Pearce, Hughes or Mancini wanted, theirs was a bigger vision. However, I hope like them that we agree a plan and make sustainable progress and stop jumping from the frying pan into the fire every couple of years exciting though that can be.
