You not wrong about it losing it’s sheen

I have to agree with this, only 4 lower tier teams get to have a chance at super league teams is not really fair, get rid of the round robin games and put the super league teams in a round or 2 earlier.

And so you aim towards the sky,
And you'll rise high today,
Fly away, Far away,
Far from pain....

There lies my point. It used to be an occasion etched in the national sporting calendar.

Now it's a game only fans of the 2 finalists give a monkey's about....

Sadly true. Luckily it remains a Group A Listed event under The Broadcasting Act so the BBC are legally obliged to show it live.

Let's not knock the tournament too much. Most of us would still really enjoy us winning at Wembley.
Catalan away is very tough. They gave us a good battering when we played them & our forwards struggled to make yards & it's the physical nature of the fixture that will take its toll. Give me York at home any day.
On the plus side we did actually score some good tries v Cats and tore them up a bit to get them.

I worry the CC would be a distraction from what surely must be the main goal: Winning the GF.

The chance of any other team than Wigan, Saints or Leeds winning a GF are already very small. Vanishingly small if you add on double winners.

Sadly the formats of most modern sports are exclusively for the benefit of teams or individuals already at the top table. Inclusivity of lower teams is not encouraged so why should their fans really be bothered about who wins one of the trophies on offer. The magic of sport & the romance of the underdog winning are long gone.

Was only talking with someone this morning about this. I remember he days when coaches still went from Warrington to the Cup Final regardless of who was playing, I know some people still go but not like it was. Same with the FA Cup it use to be pretty much an all day thing on TV, Grandstand and World of Sport on early in the morning all building to the kick off.
