Doesn’t even make it to 2023 in my opinion.

This shouldn't even be a thread, he should be gone by now.

I'd say as an estimate not getting rid of Powell and appointing a new coach before next season will cost the club 2,000 season tickets for 2023

It really cannot be more than a few games. Bar the odd flash, EVERYTHING about this season has been truly awful. The dire rugby, the terrible defence, the frequent collapses from (often) winning positions. It's been a nightmare, and even thinking about the rugby we've been playing in attack makes me vomit.

These dead rubber games were the litmus test - can Powell motivate players that HE has brought to the club to perform in matches where nothing other than pride is at stake?

You have your answer.

The club need to do something to motivate the fans to renew their season tickets for 2023. Currently there is little or no motivation for renewing, the financial pressures on the majority will be a deciding factor as will the outstandingly poor 2022 season.

DP should get zero games in 2023 as the coach, we need a new approach. He and the club have done nothing in 2022 to encourage the supporters.

Hear there will be a season ticket for a quid and wolfie will be walking around golden square giving tickets away to games, which leads me to a question for uncle Rico we need a new rule for guess the crowd sine we keep getting inflated crowds with giveaways.

Being realistic we were decent in the first half, helped by Cas penalties. We spend too much time running laterally though & when Radford mustered his big guns for the 2nd half we had no answer to their straight down the middle play which gained Cas big yards on their sets of six. Unfortunately, keeping opponents in their own half has been a problem for us all season & beyond so our defence needs to be worked on. Defence really can win games.

There have been improvements, not an awful lot; that could be attributed to the player turnround.

What are the improvements?

Three things DP said he wanted to improve/change in his first interviews, how the team attacks in the oppositions 20, how the team performs under pressure, (alluding to how we had dropped out of the play offs / the team being soft), to get the HJ buzzing. Not direct quotes but I have gone back and read his initial interviews and these are recurring themes.

I would say we have gone drastically backwards in all 3. I dont think the announced players coming in are going to suddenly change this. We didn't lose yesterday because of lack of go forward, we dominated possesion / field position and couldn't score in the oppositions 20. Since the first couple of rounds we have continually collapsed when put under the slightest bit of pressure. The HJ is booing not buzzing. I can not think of a single thing that has improved or gives hope for the future.

Don't get me wrong I would love for DP to succeed and be the messiah, but I have a sinking feeling he is out of his depth. I think he should have gone mid season, if we lose the first 2 or 3 next season that should be him gone.

Perfect summing up from Leikvoll. In each area he has stated he would improve has got a LOT LOT worse and this cannot all be attributed to teething problems/bad apples etc - there are absolute basics he could've been coaching even to 17 players that had just met that just isn't happening. It's a confused mess and I could see the argument for persevering for a while but we need to make the sacking now. Not a hope in hell we'll improve anywhere near enough to make the play-offs next season.

He's a terrible fit for our club, cut our losses and let's not waste anymore time.
