It's been fun.

Re: VOTE - Ryan Bailey - Good Signing Or Bad : Wed Nov 25, 2015 12:56 pm
For me it's beyond just Ryan Bailey the player.

It's all the stuff our club has pumped out, all the guff about attitudes and fitting in the squad and listening to fans, and this signing p-ss-s all over the past dogma/excuses Smith has churned out.
It makes us look desperate and it makes Smith look weak.

Talk about over the top reactions. In his time in Super League he's just been a fairly average to half decent player who can do a job for selected minutes and gets quick ptb. The "thug" stuff is really exaggerated, he's never been hard enough to be a thug and has never really done anything thuggish. He can just be a bit of a WUM and that's it, but even then 95% of the time he was just a player who ran in half a dozen balls a game and made ten tackles and that was it. No dramas most of the time. I think it's just one of those things with Bailey where he's got this rep through impressionable fans seeing him being a WUM in selected games and then it's become RL folklore.

Its not RL folk lore, the fact is, he is a WUM, but for the odd occasions he's been suspended when he's blown a gasket completely (including knocking a ref over) he doesn't get penalised for all his nasty niggling poop. Hence why the rhino's fans used to chant he does what he wants.

I'm sure people will say thats down to the refs to sort that, but they don't cos they're pressured to not be giving penalties away for piddling stuff and ruining games, which non of us like to see.

You mean pushed Silverwood, not knocked over, and because Silverwood made a complete mess of his positioning and back peddled right across our defensive line into Bailey's path as the ball was being passed along the line.

7m55s in for those who prefer the reality rather than the exaggerated.

Lots of fans calling him either poop or average.

I'm thinking he must be the most decorated prop currently playing in SL. Not a bad stat if true for a poop prop?!

I would have rather signed Charlie Manson. But unlike Bailey, Charlie is still in prison.

Are you on a wind up or do you actually believe what you posted right there? You are reaching. If Wigan had signed this numpty we'd all be laughing at their misfortune and saying he should fit right in with their tactics.

Name me ONE positive thing that Bailey has ever done that doesn't include winding up players and then hiding behind his own pack when they come looking for him. The only thing the pillock had to do in the CC final was go to ground and Leeds get the first try, instead he tried to play big man and run over the top of Mathers. As a result he was held up and the rest is history. He's an idiot with ball in hand and without.

How about the 2012 playoffs against Catalans when he takes a kickoff and runs 60m with the ball pushing off a few Catalans defenders before offloading to McGuire for a vital try which if we hadn't have scored we might not have progressed to the GF of 2012 and maybe Warrington would've won it instead?

Well done. I'm sure as a leeds fan that one is imprinted into the brain as there's not a lot else to go for is there? I do remember that one slightly, granted. But there is a reason we have a certain view of him because his overwhelming contribution is to be a little sheet.

That's so memorable because it's about the only thing he ever did do ....that and winding up the Warrington players in the GF at the end when they could have very possibly scored a try. His job was basically to niggle and get a quick play the ball: he did both jobs well.

As a Leeds supporter...I have to agree with you. That was bluddy awful.
