Powell has to be given time . However whilst he has not yet had his full squad available his choice of Hughes as captain baffled me as does the form of some of our star players. At Cas he built a good side with very few "stars" and perhaps few if any egos. Hopefully he can do the same here if all the players ( including the stars ) are willing although our forward strength worries me.

What an absolute nonsense. I was expecting plenty of knee-jerk s*** on here tonight, but this fella from Leeds has won 'd!ck of the day' for me.

Anyone wanting Powell out at this point is beyond help. This is 100% down to one thing and that's the players - This is a squad that has mastered the art of underachievement and bottling it. Simply changing coaches isn't going to stop that - this job is a long one of weeding out those who don't want to give their all and replacing them with a group of players who want to buy into Powell's ideas.

Personally, I'm all for giving Powell at least 2 years to sort this. The only change I'd be considering is replacing that useless tool, Fitzpatrick, with a proper director of RL, who considers the rugby as the 100% priority and not a part of some match day experience for his 'customers'.

As I've said before, this is no quick fix, it's a top to bottom renovation and bringing Powell in was just a small part of what is needed.

I’ll tell you why I said it. Powell has done a great job at Cas, no denying that. But a very different set up. He has absolutely no experience in managing ego’s and unrealistic expectations. We were all thinking he’d be taking some decent players with him from Cas (Trueman, Watts, Evalds, McShane) but Holmes and Matautia…..
Surely this should be ringing some alarm bells at your end?

No alarm bells here, because what I'm seeing is pretty much what I expected. We have an underwhelming, overrated squad which needs a massive rebuild.

Powell's immediate job is to suss out those with a long term future and those without, and just under 2 months in, I reckon he will have a fair idea already. I just hope he has the backing of those above him to get rid of those he sees surplus to requirement.

To anyone criticising Powell, I'd say come back in 12-18 months and see what we have then and then maybe we can discuss his position as coach.

Don't know why Powell gets 2 years worth of good will but Price got about 4 games before people were paying for his ticket home. It's been 5 months and people are still fighting him on what he wants? Likely people with contracts that can't be shaken too. Powell won't change much of anything, we definitely won't be defending better under him.

I just think those two players are so bang average, it would worry me what level he’s aiming at…..

Nah, things went sour for Price when we lost the first playoff in 2019 after our season fizzled out. He didnt help himself by repeating that same feat twice more.

Let's not retrospectively beatify Price.

Agreed, price did really well in the first season with us, he looked like he had a planand had put some really solid foundations in to place. Unfortunately after sorting the defence out the attack never followed and we then just went backwards. Looking back those 2 ultra Conservative finals pretty much set the tone under Steve Price and sadly the only time it worked in a final was against saints in the cup final.

Price didn’t do himself any favours telling us every week what kind of footy team he had.

Regrettably, DSM, we won't.
With regards to your second paragraph, the only player I can recall us offering an "open door" to leave, was Gleason. The rest are too happy picking up big salaries for minimal effort, for far too long . I don't see it changing, any time soon.

It wasn’t so much an ‘open door’ I think we got £100k off Pies for Gleeson. Only we bought him for £230k.
