Look left, arching run to the right, get tackled. Repeat over and over and over again that's what you'll see in the long run.

That or "not again" as another try gets scored through him.

£550,000 for Fielden and Gleeson, Bradford and ourselves both got out of those players at the right time and are now laughing at Wigan.

For England's sake I hope that Gleeson recaptures his old form for the Pies - as long as he continues to have off-days when they play us. His problem last night was the one he's had with Wire the last couple of years - no-one gave him the ball when he was in space to run - contrast with the amount of room Gidley had before he scored his try.

This is what frustrates me when people criticise Briers. He deserves a lot of credit for that right hand combination of him, Gleeson and Winger. The quality of ball out to him has at times been exceptional.

On Gidley, I think he is a very very good player, but I can't help thinking that at many other clubs he really wouldn't be that special. He is like a goal hanger for me. 10m out in a 2 on 2 situation with space, he is excellent, and 9 times out of 10 will score or put his winger in, however you very rarely see him do something special other than this, or create something from his own half etc. There aren't many teams better at isolating defensive players, and it would be interesting to see Gidley elsewhere.

Its easy to mock Wigan and Gleeson now that he plays for the Pie-eaters: so everybody feel free to fill your boots.


As a serious aside the Wigan kit really showed-up just how much upper "body-shape" he has lost during the last two seasons.

Yet Noble mentioned in his interview about what good condition his body was in.

Maybe his shape has changed as he is now getting older and needs to lose weight to keep his pace, I'm not sure, but I'm not sure how it has affected his game.

Probably not a wise move to mock Gleeson. He might of been gash last night but will probably rip us to pieces when the Goons visit the HJ in May.

Why? We have the likes of Ryan Atkins and Michael Shenton waiting in the wings who can't get a game because Senior and Gleeson are constantly being picked.

If Gleeson can't buck up his ideas at Wigan and is not in form, he shouldn't play for England. Give these other guys a chance for a change.
