How can I miss you, if you won't go away????

Sportsmanship : Mon May 25, 2009 4:46 pm
Just a thought, but concerning Friday's match, and the disallowed Wigan try (The Roberts one, where Richards knocked on going for the high ball).

Wouldn't it have been good to see Richards actually admit straight away he had touched the ball, rather than having the match stopped for 2 minutes while the video ref tried to make a decision??

Whilst the video ref is an important part of the game, I sometimes feel that on a few occasions a bit of honesty from the players could avoid unneeded delays to the game.

I'm not suggesting cheating... ....but if that decision had gone Wigan's way, then Wire could easily have ended up losing a match through poor sportsmanship.

I agree, especially when these incidents all viewed repeatedly on video.

Problem is i can imagine a player getting sledged by his own fans for giving himself up.

I agree! If it was the other way round we'd be screaming for a try, certain that with our own eyes it actually was.

Possibly, but to be honest it wouldn't happen very often, as most of the time the video ref incidents are genuine queries, where the players concerned don't have any idea themselves to the authenticity of a try.

It was just a bit disappointing that on Friday night, Richards could easily have saved all the delay by simply indicating to the officials that he touched the ball....He must have known from the 1st second that he was guilty of the knock on.

The extended break was much needed by Warrington at that stage. Did us a massive favour.

to be fair with that particular disallowed try, there was a bit of a ruckus it could have hit anyone and i wouldn't have known if i had been in that situation

I tend to disagree....Richards went up in a 1 on 1, so he would have been well aware of touching the ball...The kick was actually intended for him as well, so he would have been even more aware of the touch.

Fully agree....my main gripe I have with the modern game is players 'attempting' to regain their feet after being tackled, feigning being held down by the tackler, and flopping about on the grass like a dying fish.
