during tonights game (cas v leeds)cas had a tap and then kicked to touch and got the scrum...how long has this been in our game and what exactly is this...never heard or seen it done before

not got a clue 1st i heard until 2nite...what i dont understand is why dont they let teams get on with it...why does the ref wait until nearly all the players are where they should be...baffled to say the least

Correct - Start of last season.

I can't quite believe how scarcely its been used, i can only recall Kevin Sinfield using it.

Clever rule and i had hoped that Briers would have used it more.
Maybe tomorrow night?

Hopefully he will, but if their wingers drop back and its not on, we should be able to use the space and get the ball straight out to the centres/wings.

Briers did attempt it in one game this year, think it was against Leeds when the game was close.

He went for too many yards though and the ball stayed in the field of play and we lost posession.

I'd have insinuated that Briers had invented such a rule, had I not been so agog (great word) at the infrequency of which he has exploited it.

I think Sean Long first did one in last years grand final, but the rule didn't exist then and so they didn't get the ball back.
