In somewhat related news, Kennedy has sold Sale to a consortium with which Fred Done

I mentioned the IKEA purchase on this forum months ago, the planning has been in for over a year. 2 edged sword as the parking behind the North stand will go and that report also suggests the parking beside the practice pitches has is also about to be sold.
Technically the only parking assigned to the stadium is the few hundred in front of the stadium which is currently tarmaced, the rest are plots for.sale.
Yes Sale Sharks have been bought by a Manchester based investment company with turnover last year of £140m. Sale like Salford were owned by a generous benefactor who loved the game. He loaned Sale over £16m during his period but according to accounts has changed it from loans to gifts over the last 2 years and has sold it debt free.
Sharks like Salford have few assets ( Carringington training ground is leased from Sale RUFC) and while they have larger crowds, paying more for a ticket they also are trying to compete in a competition with a £7m cap with 2 except players on top.
Looking at the information available, both Salford and Sale lose about the same money each year. ( Though Sale will be hoping European champions rugby next year will help- from memory the biggest Rugby Crowd at the AJ Bell was Sale v Munster who brought several thousand and resulted in a crowd over 11k ( gen number, not creative accounting))
